Dear Diary,
School visit number 34, to Foxmoor Primary in Stroud, was a delight! It seemed there wasn’t a single child there who didn’t enjoy reading, and many of the pupils were keen writers, too. And so many of the children went home with a certificate today. Olivia, Martha, and Willow each got one for their super stories – and for having the courage to stand up and read them out in front of the whole of Year 3 & Year 4; Millie received one for her wonderful imagination, and for kindly letting her friend read her story out, instead of Millie reading hers, when we ran out of time; Harry was the very first recipient, for the incredible cover he created for ‘Forbidden Land’; and Cameron got one for his brilliant rap… to name but a few! (And my tired brain has a horrible feeling I’ve got at least one of those names wrong. After a day filled with so much creativity and excitement, I’m absolutely worn out! It was lovely to do a workshop for Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 today, too, as I normally focus mainly on KS2. And the pictures of Uncle John that the Reception pupils came up with were outstanding! (Which is more than I can say for their teacher’s picture!) It was a real pleasure to see the headteacher so involved with the assembly, the workshops, and the end of day craziness, too. (Although he did come a cropper in a lot of the stories that were dreamt up about a headteacher hiding a secret!) Val and ALL the super staff at Foxmoor were so helpful throughout the day, re-directing me every time I got lost, helping out brilliantly with all the activities, and pitching in with book sales and freebie hand-outs at the end of the day! There was such a buzz in the air. I can’t wait to visit again next year with WARNING: May Contain Dragons.
