Dear Diary,
My final school visit this week was to Castle Hill Primary, where the staff and pupils were all dressed for Children in Need. And what a Castle Hill welcome I received! The second I arrived, the lovely caretaker kindly acted as my porter, wheeling my trolley into the building and parking it safely in the hall. The pupils then filed in for assembly and were beautifully behaved, with so many of them answering questions throughout. When I asked them what they’d do if they had magic at their fingertips, one of the Reception pupils delightfully piped up with, ‘I’d say ABRACADABRA!’ I think all our hearts melted at that point. And I’m pretty sure ALL the children at Castle Hill Primary have magic at their fingertips, as the work they produced was phenomenal. The day flew by in a flash. It seems Castle Hill runs on a different time system to the rest of us (or maybe it was just that I didn’t ever want to leave). I honestly couldn’t believe how quickly the Year 3 pupils in my penultimate workshop came up with their masterpieces! Every single pupil shone today. I hope they know how proud their teachers and I were of them all. And they should be very proud of themselves, too. Louis, Lily, Brooke, Sagee, George, Alex, Shay, Noah, Alfie, Lee-Anne, Isabella, Lincoln, Trinity, Tayler… and I’m sure I’ve missed a few… received certificates today. But every single pupil contributed towards making my visit magical! Thanks to Karen, James, and all the staff, today really was the perfect end to this week. And they were tremendous help at home time, too! (I think I must have packed and unpacked my trolley four or five times before leaving the premises, due to the trickle of children and parents that kept appearing out of nowhere… as if by magic… after dashing off to get some money or a bank card and then returning to purchase a copy of WARNING: Magic Can Be Dangerous! — there MUST be magic at play at Castle Hill!!!) And when I got home, I realised that the papers Joseph had presented me with at home time were all of the wonderful work he’d produced during my visit. I’ll treasure it, along with all my memories of today’s incredible visit. And I can’t wait to return next year with WARNING: May Contain Dragons.
